Cell Phones

Most mobile devices radiate a transmission signal around 900 MHz.

This signal is strong enough to cause muscle pain and brain damage.

Devices with signals operating at 900 MHz can produce significantly stronger signals with longer range than the other commonly used signal at 2.4 GHz. Signals at 900 MHz have at least two times the range of 2.4 GHz signals.

  1. Fewer countries permit commercial devices operating at 900 MHz.
  2. Devices operating at 900 MHz are certified for use in North America.
  3. Europe requires the use of 2.4 GHz.

Don't ever sleep with a cell phone under your pillow!

Additional and somewhat unrelated information:

"Even when the microwave oven is working correctly, the microwave levels within the kitchen are likely to be significantly higher than those from any nearby cellular phone base-stations. Remember also that microwaves will travel through walls if the microwave oven is against an inside wall."
- Powerwatch (a non-profit independent organization with a central role in the microwave radiation debate)

  1. I almost wanted to include this information along with a reference to chemicals used in food and other products. My favorite being "THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS CHEMICALS KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE CANCER, BIRTH DEFECTS, OR OTHER REPRODUCTIVE HARM."
Essentially there is a lot of harmful products that are very common.

    Except
that the newer 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 are in the 1800,1900 and 2100 bands.
800/900 is generally GPS/CDMA and some GPRS which has always uses less
power in the handsets. Also the reason older phones lasted longer on
    calls. used smaller batteries.

2.4Ghz is a lowpower band in Europe and the US, it often referred to as WiFi, though DECT home wireless phone use this also.
